Ernie is our little love and he makes us laugh every day. He still eats our 6 year olds toys and shoes all the time. We've started making a list of all the things he's eaten -- polly pockets, crayons, underwear, toilet paper, flip flops... Yes, he has graduated from behavior class. He shares the house with a 16 year old Bassett/Beagle mix, Bunny. Bunny tolerates Ernie and once in a while she will give him a run for his money. Ernie has a condition called dry eye -- he cannot make his own tears and his eyes become painfully dry so that he has to keep them closed unless he has frequent daily eye drops. At first the condition was improving with his cyclosporin/tacrolimus drops and he was seeing better. this only lasted a few months. Now they are back to being dry so we use these drops plus lubricating eye drops several times a day. The alternative is surgery to redirect a saliva gland to his eyes. It's expensive and not garunteed so we are still holding out for a bit.
